Academic Success Center Site Manager: Jamileh Afaneh
Jamileh Afaneh has been the site manager of the Academic Success Center for more than three years and is committed to fostering a supportive and accessible learning environment where every student feels empowered to succeed. Jamileh has developed strong expertise in tutoring, student support, and Center operations. As Site Manager, Jamileh oversees a team of skilled student tutors, collaborates with faculty to identify students’ academic needs, and develops workshops, review sessions, and learning resources to enhance the student experience. She also manages daily operations—including the appointment system, website updates, and program development—while remaining actively engaged in tutoring and student consultations. Jamileh’s goal is to ensure the Academic Success Center remains a welcoming and enriching space where students can build confidence, strengthen study skills, and achieve their academic potential.
Academic Success Center Tutoring Specialist: Reem Albaqami
Reem is a Tutoring Specialist at the Academic Success Center, where she provides targeted academic support through one-on-one and group tutoring sessions. With a degree in Physics and a high GPA, she specializes in helping students master mathematics and science concepts, strengthen analytical thinking, and develop effective problem-solving and study strategies. In addition to her tutoring responsibilities, Reem assists with daily Center operations to ensure smooth and efficient service for students. Her strong subject expertise and dedication to student success contribute significantly to the ASC’s mission of fostering academic growth and confidence across the university.
Academic Success Center Director: Alice Kenney
Alice Kenney is an experienced English professor and the Director of the Academic Success Center, where she leads campus-wide initiatives that support student learning and academic growth. With more than two decades of international experience in higher education, she specializes in teacher training and the design of educational programs that serve diverse learners around the world. Director Alice trains peer consultants to provide welcoming, learner-centered tutoring sessions that build confidence, strengthen critical thinking, and promote independent learning. These sessions offer students academic support for every major and help students navigate the unique challenges and opportunities within their fields of study. The Academic Success Center offers a wide range of student-focused workshops — including CV writing, personal statements, and public speaking—as well as collaborative training sessions with academic departments. Known for her dedication to supportive, innovative, and inclusive learning environments, Director Alice is committed to helping every student thrive.
